It is an approximately 9,000 kms round trip from Melbourne, with about 5,000 kms of those being off road. The Canning Stock Route (CSR) is a 2,000 kms trip starting at Wiluna in central Western Australia and finishing at Halls Creek in The Kimberley.
The route to Wiluna will be along the Anne Beadell Highway, from Coober Pedy SA to Laverton WA through the Woomera Prohibited Area and past the 1950’s British Atomic Bomb testing sites. This is not a “Highway” but two wheel ruts in the desert with many overgrown and rocky sections.
Before returning from Halls Creek via the Tanami Track to Alice Springs and home , we will spend a couple of days in the Bungle Bungles.
The CSR is the most remote 4WD track in the world and requires the best preparation possible.
You can’t over prepare for this trip.
